Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo
Persons about to become eligible for Medicare benefits.

Older persons interested in coverage of future health related costs
Services are mandated by Federal and State laws and are free and unbiased.
HSNC is not affiliated with any insurance company nor does the program sell, promote or solicit any type of insurance.

To provide Medicare beneficiaries and interested persons professional, accurate, quality information and resources through individual counseling, community education and advocacy services.
HICAP is funded through: the Federal Older Americans Act and the Older Californians Act. It
is administered by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The California Department of Aging. The California Department of Aging provides policy direction and oversight.
The program is designed to provide Medicare beneficiaries and those imminent of becoming eligible for Medicare with counseling and advocacy as to Medicare, private health insurance, and related health care coverage plans.
Performance measures During FY13-14 HSNC provided
counseling services to 3,476 beneficiaries
109 community education sessions to 206,643 attendees.
